Road Update
Norfolk County Council’s Highways Department responded rapidly to a recent Parish Council report highlighting the dangerous condition of Ling Common Road. In response to the report, Highways said:
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Upon further inspection it is noted the road has deteriorated significantly since our last inspection. As such we have prioritised works to repair the defects identified, this should be evident in the coming weeks.”

Norfolk County Council’s Public Rights of Way team have replaced a missing Public Footpath sign at the entrance to Keeper’s Wood off the A149, following a report by the Parish Council that the sign had fallen. The sign had rotted away at its base, and had then disappeared.

The Public Rights of Way team look after approximately 2400 miles of footpaths, bridleways and other byways across Norfolk. Their inspection and maintenance of the network is an ongoing and important part of the Council’s work, ensuring that public access rights are maintained.
Anyone can report a fault relating to roads, paths, footpaths, etc using the Norfolk County Council’s website at:

Village Defibrillator
The East of England Ambulance Service recently removed the defibrillator whilst attending a resident in the village.
Thankfully, they were not required to use it on that occasion but was there as a back up for them. It shows what an important asset the defibrillator is to the village.
The defibrillator is now back in position. -
Village Speed Limit – Update
Whilst we had been previously informed that the Feasibility Study might not take place until next year, we are pleased to report that the traffic speed and volume measurement part of the Feasibility Study is now underway with several sensors deployed throughout the village. When completed and analysed, the results of the measurement phase will become available for the Parish Council and we will publicise them in due course for residents.
Any questions regarding traffic matters can be directed to Cllr Smith via email at clairepsmith.crpc@outlook.com or the Clerk at castlerisingpc@gmail.com .

Village Speed Limit – Update
A considerable amount of preparatory work to introduce a speed limit for Castle Rising has been completed by Cllr Claire Smith and her Traffic Working Group. As a result, and based on this work, the Parish Council has been able to submit a formal request for a Feasibility Study to Norfolk County Council Highways. The Feasibility Study will be carried out by a team of road safety experts from Norfolk Highways who will assess the speed and volume of traffic through the village and recommend appropriate traffic calming measures, and in particular a reduction in the current de-restricted speed limit.
However, our request is now in a schedule together with all other parish requests across the County and, given the number of feasibility study requests the safety team has to get through, our study may not be completed until next year. This is an unfortunate delay, but we will have to be patient until it is our turn.
Any questions regarding traffic matters can be directed to Cllr Smith via email at clairepsmith.crpc@outlook.com or the Clerk at castlerisingpc@gmail.com .
